Dog Training in Cleveland, Ohio

Pet Training

Have you ever spent days at home wondering how your dog thinks or how to best teach them simple commands? You and your dog stand there staring at each other, wishing you could know what each other was saying, but you simply cannot understand them. The proper training can fix this communication failure.

Dogs are natural predators. As a dog owner, you must learn to be their main provider first, before ever attempting to ask them to learn commands.

How do I learn to be my Dogs' main provider?

Would you ever expect a 3-year-old human to sit still and quietly for 6 hours in a classroom?

People have similar unrealistic expectations of their dogs. It's important to first learn and understand dog psychology to build a strong relationship with your dog. Unfortunately this step is often missed, even though it is one of the most important steps.

We don’t believe in bad dog owners here at the Collar Club, but we do believe that all people should be given a chance to have the proper guidance.

Training a dog at home is challenging without the proper guidance. Of course, you can teach your puppy heeling or to sit, down, or stay, but are you doing it correctly in order for your dog to exercise their brain properly?

If you haven't consulted a professional, it is quite likely that you are training your dog incorrectly. Why? Because you likely have been taught incorrectly from the incorrect resource, like the internet or an unreliable dog trainer.

Dog training takes time and proper guidance from REAL professionals.

Our dogs are family, so it’s important to educate them and learn how properly communicate with your dog. Before getting frustrated with your puppy or dog, stop and learn to evaluate why your dog doesn’t understand your commands.

That’s where we can help!

Here at The Collar Club, we have dog trainers who have been training dogs in combined areas of expertise for over sixty years! Whatever it is you need help with, our trainers are here to help provide personalized dog training programs.

At The Collar Club, we don’t believe dog training comes in a “one size fits all” format. While some dogs may have behavioral issues including aggression, other owners need guidance on how to properly communicate loose leash walking.

You want the best for your dog, and we do too! That’s why we take the time to get to know both you and your dog, so we can teach you how you and your dog can fit into one another’s lifestyle.

One of our biggest goals is to make sure that after our training process, you walk away with a better understanding of your dog and their needs. Your eyes will be opened to a whole new world and a better understanding of your dog.

In order to do this, you'll have to forget almost everything you have ever learned on the internet. Building a bond with an animal properly gives you a genuine understanding of one another and a relationship like no other.

Why Hire A Dog Trainer?

"Whether you want to teach your canine companion sports or confidently take them to a friend’s house while on their best behavior, there are so many reasons to work with a dog trainer."

While you always have the option to train your dog yourself, wouldn't you rather trust it to the professionals? Dog training is difficult without the right education from professionals who understand proper canine communication.

If you work a full-time job or simply maintain a hectic lifestyle, it can be hard on your pup if you’re not taking the time to build a relationship with your dog. If you have a new puppy, you want to make sure you are teaching them new skills, ensuring this training is being delivered with the consistency your dog needs. A trainer can help you balance your busy lifestyle with proper training for your pooch.

It can also be difficult if you’re getting all your information online or from a dog trainer who doesn’t understand animal psychology. Unfortunately, the majority of the dog trainers don’t have the proper education, as there is no license or standard within the pet industry. It’s important for you to learn how to properly evaluate a dog trainer.

Our pet trainers are here to help make sure your dog’s obedience is top-notch. Once you learn proper communication with your pooch, you will be amazed at the results.

From Chihuahuas to Newfoundlands, we work will all breeds and rescues no matter how large or small your four-legged friend is and can develop a home training program that is going to work for you!

We offer a more personalized approach to dog and puppy training. Our trainers will meet with your and your dog, so we can make sure they’re tailoring the training plan so it will fit you and your dog’s communication perfectly.

Here, at The Collar Club, we offer personalized training programs for all people we meet. You could be a senior citizen, someone looking to take dog sports to another level, someone that would like to have a dog for personal protection, or someone who wants the simple life with their dog at home. No matter who you are or what your goals may be, we have you covered! Regardless of your journey with your dog, understanding dog psychology first and foremost remains the same.

Each person is different in how they learn and respond to training with their dog, which is why our dog trainers will evaluate you and your dog to give you the most out of training!

Even if your dog does fine in a group class, from our experience the owner usually does not do well in the group. The results are not the same as from private lessons, as it’s important to have undivided attention.

Everyone is different and has a different relationship with their dog. The benefits of private training include fewer distractions and a more personalized approach. The owner can often get distracted themselves by interactions with other group members.

You will also be able to discuss your lifestyle with your trainer privately without judgement. While the socialization aspect of group training is great, it can be awkward and uncomfortable to discuss specifics in a room full of people.

Maybe you don’t even want to admit or discuss your lifestyle in front of a group.

This is where private training pays off.

It is up to you as the owner to be a leader and set the tone of a healthy environment by communicating properly with your dog.

Not properly communicating has a negative effect on your dog, your relationship with your dog, and it can cause behavioral issues.

When humans and dogs begin obedience training, it is important to train without the distraction of other people or dogs.

Why is this the best approach?

It’s simple. You can’t add pressure or distractions without first building a foundation.

Build this foundation with your dog first and then you can add on distractions later.

Mental stimulation

Mental stimulation for dogs comes in different forms like problem solving.

Most dog trainers teach you how to provide the answer to the dog.

No matter what you’re hoping to get out of your dog training, training and problem solving can be an amazing outlet and provide mental stimulation for dogs when done correctly.

Dogs need mental stimulation as well as physical exercise on a regular basis.

When you bring them to us for training, they’ll be getting the best of both worlds!

What you can expect on your first day: the consultation

First, before we begin the training process, we'll want to get to know you and your dog's behavior.

  1. What’s your lifestyle like?
  2. What are the likes and dislikes of your dog?
  3. Do you have an aggressive dog?
  4. Are they reactive towards anything?
  5. What are their behavioral problems, if any?

All this essential information helps us create the best training plan for you. If your dog is reactive to certain sights or sounds, we will work this into the program as well.

During the consultation, we’ll figure out what works best for you and once we have a better idea of where you and your dog are at regarding training we will be pleased to answer any questions you may have. We will thoroughly discuss your dog training needs and training goal to ensure your dog's behavior problems are addressed.

No problem is too little to ask for the help of a professional trainer.

We’re here to help you with any issue you dog may have. In fact, we are contacted by people from all over the country who are willing to come all the way from Texas to train with us at our facility.

We have dealt with the smallest to the most extreme cases. Nothing is too little or small of a problem.

It’s important to us for you to learn the psychology of your dog and how to use that knowledge to have a beautiful relationship with your dog so you can learn how to work together.
